Students describe conversation and social interaction pictures using “say it, see it, and describe it” prompts, generate narratives about maintaining a topic during conversations, and answer opinion-based questions to strengthen expressive language skills. The resource also includes inferencing and prediction tasks related to recognizing conversation topics, identifying relevant responses, and understanding social cues, as well as multi-step verbal and written direction-following activities with modifiers to strengthen listening and reading comprehension. Additional activities target higher-level language skills, including analogies, multiple-meaning words, semantic relationships, grammar practice with pronouns, irregular past tense verbs, and irregular plural nouns, and figurative language such as idioms, metaphors, and similes.
